01/02/2023 - More WRECKAGE on Clear Blue available now
A lil quick joint to hold you over for now…More news and content after FYA this weekend.
What’s there to say that isn’t already written on the walls aside from thank you to anyone who listened, bought the record or said one kind word about it. We knew WRECKAGE did something great when we heard the songs but the vindication in everyone across the HC spectrum saying the same thing makes all the work worth it for us. Everything about this has been done our way with the best of intentions and to serve people who have more than passing interest in our scene, to quote a big man.. iron sharpens iron. We’re better because you expect better.
In the spirit of fairness (or whatever) we’re releasing another 20 of the *rare* clear blue variant of the record for the people reading this who haven’t already ordered one (or whoever notices they’re available again on the store..) they were pretty much gone before the morning hours even hit soooo fuck it. Have at it.
We implore you to learn the words, hell we’ll even send you all the lyrics if you want but move up front at FYA this weekend and act like you’ve got no brain cells and nothing left to live for. That goes for WRECKAGE and ECHO CHAMBER. In this vein here’s a crude preview of some stuff we’ll be peddling all weekend at the fest. Stop by the table (location TBD) and tell us about listening to WRECKAGE or the time you saw STIGMATA or your favorite zine.
A Northern Saga
The Scheme + Daze + Streets of Hate New Years event is a semi formal semi regular event of the last half decade, this year was punctuated by the release of the WRECKAGE LP at midnight and I think those vapors of HC spirit led me and Alex SOH to drive up to Syracuse for a much more annual event of the NYD HC matinee despite both getting home at 3:30 AM the night prior.
Alex scooped me in Orange County around 10 and we begun our western expanse down route 17, once you’re passed Middletown you might as well be in coal country. Things get dicey, the Wendy’s employees speak with a southern twang and the gas station clerks stare at you like you sniped their grand pappy at Gettysburg. An uneventful albeit long drive, great banter with one of the best and an entire bag of grapes. No disrespect to our olden heads but we really were skeptical of DEATH THREAT playing the show, it just seemed to good to be true but not so much that we wouldn’t drive 4 hours just for a shot… and you know to see the other bands. Our fears were squished by DEATH THREAT crew plate siting, an internal sigh of relief was felt but not seen by both. We were greeted by the 315 welcoming committee, stole some table space and rushed off to strong hearts before the show. We both ordered coffee and seitan sandwiches, surely a dangerous combo but we both left satisfied.
Show starts when we get back, not gunna bore you with a play by play but here’s some thoughts
- ALL 4 ALL put on for their scene immediately and put the show into perspective for everyone in the room
- Lots of REGULAR hardcore
- UNDERDOG cover
- SIMULAKRA always sounding good, got a little brutal in there
- Dan from WORN !!!!
- I’ve probably seen RESTRAINING ORDER more than any band in existence, new record will surely be great and I won’t have to hear the old songs as much… I’ve had enough!!!
- ANOTHER VICTIM was good, singers voice sounds perfect and he had a cool BLOOD RUNS BLACK shirt and after the set switched to a CONVICTION shirt so I think he was just stunting .. and it worked.
- 2 SANTA SANGRE songs at the end of AV probably popped harder than AV, probably the more pronounced breakdowns
- the real reason for driving 4 hours, our lords and saviors … DEATH THREAT. This band represents more to me than I’ll put here (save it for the book
- I really do love THE PROMISE….
Overall an incredible gig, very good and validating way to start the year having people talk to me in person about WRECKAGE / Scheme and much much lamer …. Graphic design. Eternally grateful for these connections and conversations so shout out to Buske, Dom, Peter, Thorns and many more.
Ride home is always the worst part of living this HC existence, we recapped the show and stopped at the same fucked up gas station and I got home around 12:30… Alexmight have went to the casino at the mall.
Haha…but what if tho 👀
We met our WRECKAGE sales goal and A1SOH gifted me the CTHC grail of the ANOTHER WALL Crown.
